Relate Derby and Southern Derbyshire is an independent local charity and we are totally self-financing. We rely on payments and donations from clients and supporters as well as grants and any contracts that enable us to offer services free of charge.

1:4 people in England are affected by common mental health problems such as anxiety, stress, low mood and depression at some point in their lives. Often these are triggered by relationship issues, communication and conflicts between partners and family members and at workplace. During Covid-19 these have been exasperated by unanticipated death, burnout, and unemployment. There is considerable evidence for the use of psychological therapies as an effective treatment for these problems, so there is no need for anyone to suffer in silence on their own. Everyone deserves good mental health and well being for a happy life!

At Relate Derby we help approximately 2165 people each year and we do our utmost and not turn anyone away. Where possible we will offer people our free counselling services. Often people who are not eligible and cannot afford our paid service, we offer them our bursaries.

However, at present and made worse by the coronavirus crisis, we have no bursary to offer clients who are unable to pay. We know that children young people, individuals, couples and families all need our help and rely on our specialist support. We urgently need your donations to give bursaries to people and families struggling the most. Your donations will make a difference to someone's life and we very much appreciate it.
