70 countries criminalise LGBTI people. Some have the death penalty, others inflict jail sentences or torture. Many other countries prevent LGBTI people from accessing healthcare, employment and housing. As a result, LGBTI people live in poverty and destitution. The MRI Foundation exists to support them.
By joining the virtual Pride Run you will help the charity to:
1. support vulnerable LGBTI asylum seekers who are at risk of homelessness and extreme poverty with emergency housing and small grants for food, toiletries and transport;
2. support LGBTI people living with less than $1 a day by delivering small business trainings, moving on services and facilitating micro-finance;
3. deliver activities that help LGBTI people who are rejected by their families and communities and live in extreme isolation to build new friendships and stronger social safety nets .
