Story
Southampton Hub supports students at the University of Southampton to tackle social challenges, learn about issues and connect with each other. Our mission is to mainstream student social action, supporting a new generation of active citizens to achieve positive change now and in the future.
Southampton Hub enables and empowers students to create positive impact in their local communities through practical volunteering, project incubation and local events.
Your donations support us to continue making a difference to community groups in Southampton, engage more students in volunteering, and invest in the staff support, logistics and operations which makes these programmes possible.
In 2020/21 we:
Engaged 154 students in social action, volunteering over 1500 hours altogether - which is 2 months added capacity to our local community!
Reached over 650 community participants through tutoring, homework support, activity days and food waste collection!
'I have gained a huge amount in the short time I have been volunteering... the biggest difference is that I feel so much more confident about my skills and what I can offer the world beyond my grades... I feel a lot more confident, I think I am a better leader, a better teacher, and just a more positive person in my everyday life.' - Zara Campbell, Schools Plus Volunteer and Branch Up Co-ordinator 2021-22
