Story
The wellbeing of our young people is vitally important especially now when their lives have been so affected by the Covid pandemic.
All forms of dance have been shown to provide significant benefits and this has resulted in an increased number of young people wishing to attend professionally run dance classes. In addition to the obvious benefits of healthy exercise, the young people also get to work together, achieve recognised dance standards and show off their new skills in end of term performances all of which contribute to increased confidence and wellbeing.
The Leyburn Arts and Community Centre has for a number of years hosted a very successful professional dance school but because of the demand it is now essential for us to expand the facilities.
To accommodate this expansion and also provide the right sort of floor for theatre, ballet and tap dance the Leyburn Arts and Community Centre aims to install a new and additional professional dance floor.
This is of course very costly and we are already raising funds via all sorts of activities including using our own reserves but to achieve this, we are asking that you contribute to this very worthwhile cause which will help benefit the wellbeing of our young people.
In addition to the above a sprung dance floor will also be an asset for people of all ages in our area who dance or want to learn to dance as there are no floors like it anywhere near us. A sprung floor absorbs shock and helps to prevent injury to joints and muscles and makes dancing a safer and more pleasurable experience.
