Wonder Foundation, established in 2012 by a group of young women, helps girls access good quality education and the support they need to exit poverty, for good. To achieve this, we have partnered with local institutions run by women. Learning from them and with them we have strengthen their practices and share their learning. To date we have supported over 7000 girls to access educational and leadership programmes world wide. Of these 864 have graduated with recognised vocational qualifications in their country; 98% entered formal employment or self-employment doubling their family income within 6 months.

Education is not freely available to everyone - and in many parts of the world girls are the first to be excluded from it. In sub-Saharan Africa, 33.3 million girls of primary and lower secondary school age are out of school. This number rises to 52.2 million when taking into account girls of upper secondary school age. The world bank estimates that there are currently 98 million girls missing out on secondary education worldwide. Thats over 10 times the total population of London who are missing out on quality education, and suffering as a result.

We know that poverty is the greatest barrier to accessing an education overcoming this barrier by investing in girls and women is a proven way to improve the health and wealth of entire nations. With access to education we can do amazing things: launch businesses, become health workers, run schools, and lead governments, making the world a better place for everyone.
