Story

The most worth-while thing is to try to put happiness into the lives of others...

Wellesbourne and District Lions is pleased to announce our 2020 fundraiser for 1st Wellesbourne Scouts. We aim to raise £2020 for our local scouting group to help them return to scouting activities in this, a most unusual, year.

The Scouting team, led by Yvonne Paige-Stimson, has been brilliant during the time of CovID-19. Even though they havent had any Subs income or face to face activities since January, they have been able to run virtual sessions to keep Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers engaged and busy for the last few months.

Having just got back to a resumption of face to face activities with Scouts and Explorers (Cubs and Beavers are starting soon) they have had to supply much needed equipment, including:

Cones for social distancing

Laminator pockets

First aid restocking

Visors

Gloves

Face masks

Wipes

Hand gel

Dispensers

Thermometer

Which are all needed for a safe return. Also, whereas before certain items could be shared around the groups, this is no longer possible, so they have had to buy extra:

Compasses

Knives

Saws

Axes

Ropes

and much more!

Unlike other scout groups or charities with a hut (which 1st Wellesbourne dont have) they havent received the £10k government CovID funding. Any money you can donate will help the eager scouting fraternity return to activities and a feeling of a near normal life as well as help fund families who have struggled during the last few months to keep their child's places in Scouts due to job losses.

Many adults spent a wonderful time growing up amongst fellow scouting groups. We would love to hear your experiences too!
