Story

Since 1971, the Yavapai College Foundation has supported the college's mission of providing quality learning and cultural opportunities for the diverse populations of Yavapai County. Our scholarship program awarded its first fourteen scholarships in 1975. Since then, our efforts have provided thousands of students with financial assistance to help them achieve their goal of attending college and achieve their dream of success in life. A scholarship recipient expressed it best ....

Thank you for affording me the opportunity to be in college. My life and the lives of the people I love and care about are forever changed because of the Foundation." -- Michael Swyers, YC Graduate, 2021

The Foundation has over 250 scholarships today and allocated over $675,000 to student scholarships for the 2021-2022 academic year. Collaborations with the college over the last fifty years have heped to develop: the Verde Valley Campus in Clarkdale; the Southwest Wine Center offering progams in enology, viticulture and entrepreneurship through its teaching winery and tasting room; the Performing Arts Center on the Prescott Campus along with the Richard Marcusen Sculpture Garden. An Alum shared this ....

I started at YC with three small children. YC truly changed my life. It was a great experience. YC helped me find my way again. That was 20 years ago. Now I am Principal of Mingus High School. I've transitioned from being a recipient of benefits to now help others. I've created the GLOH scholarship (Gee's Love Optimism & Hope scholarship) for single parents. I am very grateful to YC and the Foundation." -- Genie Gee

The Foundation has been instrumental in the development of many programs including the Del E. Webb Family Enrichment Center which provides accessible, affordable, high quality early childcare while serving as a laboratory school for the Early Childhood Education Department.

The FEC has provided a community for our family to be part of where our children feel safe, loved, nurtured and they get to participate in the most creative and amazing activities! We're so thankful for the Yavapai College Foundation's help in developing this Center." -- Hope & Geoff Hyland

Gifts in honor of the Foundation's 50th anniversary will provide funds to respond to emerging priorities of Yavapai College and support students wherever the need is greatest.
