Story

Despite the ongoing CV-19 crisis, YG's youth workers, working alongside our sister charity, Infobuzz, have continued to support Gloucestershire's most vulnerable young people through these difficult times. Throughout the first lockdown and lockdown 2.0, we have continued to address the health and well being needs of young people & families via:

1. Remote mental-health counselling sessions

2. Link chat - when our Link drop-in had to shut, we gave, and continue to give, young people the opportunity to receive a well being call each day, with a key worker who can support them with daily routines, coping mechanisms and ensure they have everything they need to remain safe and well.

3. Care packages - we delivered chef prepared frozen meals, store cupboard supplies and essentials like toiletries and art supplies to young people and families who were struggling.

4. Street-based youth work - we continue to deliver outreach work in Tewkesbury, the Cotswolds, Cheltenham and Gloucester to ensure young people are safe and are educated on the dangers of Covid-19 and the need to follow the guidelines.

5. Online support sessions, including training, live exercise sessions and guided mindfulness sessions for those young people most in need.

While CV19 hasn't medically impacted young people, it has had a hugely negative affect on their mental-health. Simultaneously it has had a disproportionate impact on youth unemployment which will not be helped by the forthcoming Brexit.

This Christmas time, please help us to support the most vulnerable young people at this difficult time and to give them a more positive 2021.
