Visit the charity's profileFollowing the advice of the Government and Public Health England on mass gatherings and social events during the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, we have reluctantly taken the decision to cancel York Pride 2020.
This has been a heartbreaking call for us to make after all the work we have already put into this years event. However, we would never put the health and wellbeing of our pride-goers, volunteers, artists or traders at risk, or stretch the resources of our emergency services at a time when they are needed more elsewhere.
York Pride takes the whole year to plan. Whilst we have been carefully considering all options, as it is unclear how long current measures will remain in place, or how the situation may develop, it is sadly impossible for us to reschedule for later this year. With so many uncertainties, we ultimately believe this is the right decision to protect our long-term future.
Whilst we have taken decisions as early as possible, we have, like many others taken a hit to our finances, mainly due to unusable "2020" merchandise but also other unavoidable costs.
We are asking our community for support to ensure the cancellation and financial loss of 2020 doesn't impact our future events.
