Kayla was our very last client in Wilmington in March of 2020 before we shut down for COVID. She came for a pregnancy test the day we shut down. Although happy to become a first time mom, Kayla was concerned about many things. A temporary visitor from another country, Kayla had no health insurance, no income, and no stable home. We corresponded throughout our closure and she continued to participate in the Hope Program as much as she could.

Through the support of ADOH, other agencies, and friends, Kayla continued her pregnancy, received prenatal care, collected the necessary baby items, and remained healthy. She gave birth to a beautiful baby boy on November 14th and is preparing to return home. In a personal note to us, she wrote, I am beyond blessed to have experienced the underlying love, prayers, and support from you and A Door of Hope. I appreciate the classes; they were extremely helpful as a first time mom. As I embark on this new journey, I will always remember the staff at A Door of Hope. The fruits of your labor will always be remembered and realized. "
