Story

Since 2015, 75 UK wholesale, convenience retail, FMCG and service-provider execs have raised over £673,000 on five industry bike rides for MAG (Mines Advisory Group) the Manchester based charity, awarded Co-Laureate Nobel Peace Prize for international campaigning to ban landmines.

The rides, in Sri Lanka, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia, have helped MAG save lives and build safer futures for communities ravaged by the effects of war.

Every day, 15 people are killed or injured by landmines and unexploded bombs. Almost half of casualties are children. We ride in support of MAG teams around the world who remove and destroy these deadly items for good from communities affected by conflict. Every landmine and deadly weapon taken out of the ground is a life saved, an injury prevented and a community given the opportunity to flourish.

For 2021 we had been planning a ride in Zimbabwe however, given current events and with heavy hearts, we have decided to push that plan back to 2022. and instead hold a 2021 on home soil here in the UK!

The event is being led by Neil Turton and Tom Fender in support of MAG and is a chance for the sector to come together after a troubled year, support each other, support the hospitality sector and raise money for an incredible cause.

The current dates we are working to are below with the routes keeping us off main roads and following government rules.

24th June Newcastle

25th June - Glasgow

01st July - Bristol

02nd July - South Wales

07th July - Midlands

09th July London

15th July Yorkshire

16th July Manchester

About the charity

Every single day, 15 people are killed or injured because of landmines and other explosive weapons. Half of all civilian casualties are children. MAG finds and destroys these weapons to save lives and rebuild futures; helping people to grow crops, attend school and build homes.
