Story

Donations needed for young musicians

BISYOC brings together 80-100 young people from many different countries and diverse backgrounds: this year the event will be held in North Macedonia. The key to BISYOC's success is the excellent cultural and social interaction taking place among these young people as they share their diversity through making music together. The orchestral repertoire is tackled under the guidance of experienced international tutors and dynamic conductor Julian Gibbons. The culmination is 2 vibrant Symphony Concerts performed in collaboration with local communities in Struga and Bitola.

To ensure the success of BISYOC 2019 we need to raise £10,000 for the BISYOC Bursary Fund which subsidises approximately 35% of the participants. The combination of the full fee of 595 Euros and the expensive travel costs to North Macedonia is too high a cost for many young people.

The Bursary Fund enables the inclusion of participants from diverse international and socio-economic backgrounds. This ensures both the cultural diversity of BISYOC and a full strength Symphony Orchestra, which is essential for a valid musical experience, and, in 2019 we want to include as many young musicians from Balkan countries as possible.

GBPs, Euros and Dollars accepted - see Donation Box drop down menu:

Donate £10 for cultural outing for one young musician; £20 Return Airport Transfer for one young musician; £50 for one night's accommodation, food and tuition for one young musician.

That is the special thing of BISYOC; all the people are like a big family thanks to music. We do music, which is what we love, but its not only that. We learn so many things about other cultures, countries and people. That is something that you can´t learn in another kind of orchestra. Here the music is important, of course, but the people and their culture too. Thank goodness I decided to come this year. Spanish Participant 2012

I am writing this to show my appreciation for all the work you do at Bisyoc. I have recently got a job in an opera house in Bulgaria and I feel that this would not have been possible if it was not for the experience I acquired during each Bisyoc. I wish to thank Lee for his dedication and patience, even offering help outside of Bisyoc. Thanks goes also to Julian for his wonderful way of explaining music to the musicians.
