Story

UPDATE 5/1/2021: Just before Christmas, both Daisy and her furry friend Bones departed from our Borneo facility and are now living in their new foster home with a lovely lady named Sylvia.

Daisy has come such a long way since she was rescued from the streets of Borneo last year with a cable tied tightly around her neck. She experienced a level of abuse that no dog should ever have to go through, but thanks to IAPWA's amazing supporters who have banded together to raise a wonderful amount of funding to support Daisy, we have been able to provide her with all of the vital medical treatment she needs to help her wound heal.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to find Daisy a permanent home just yet as she is still very untrusting towards humans due to her awful experience. We believe it will still take some time, as well as ongoing rehabilitation and training, for her to come out of her shell and start to trust again, so right now she will be enjoying her time in her current new home with her other furry friends where they will have a much bigger kennel area and large garden to roam around and play with each other.

As always, we will keep you updated about Daisy's journey to a happier, healthier and trusting life. A journey she shouldn't have to be taking, but one that we will support her along every step of the way.

UPDATE 13/12/2020: Thank you so much to everyone who has donated to Daisy's campaign! It has been a long road for this poor, timid girl and although she still has many steps to take down her long road to recovery, we are so happy to share her current progress with you!

As you can see, Daisy's once horrific wound now looks so much better and you can finally see just how beautiful this brave girl is beneath those sad eyes (please scroll through the photos to see her progress). Her wound is cleaned weekly by our team members and we will continue to do so until it is fully healed. That being said, although Daisy's physical scars are healing, her mental ones continue to be a daily battle...

Daisy's ordeal has left her incredibly traumatised and she has to be sedated to get her wound cleaned. She is also far too scared to be touched or petted by anyone in our team at the moment, but we will be working on this with her.

As we said back when Daisy was rescued, we will not give up on her. Our team are now starting rehabilitation with her so we can get her ready to find her forever home; however this will take some time and she will need much training and support to become the once happy dog she was before one horrid human changed her world forever.

If you are able to spare a kind donation to support Daisy's ongoing rehabilitation we would be forever grateful. Thank you so much for caring and following Daisy's journey with us. We hope that one day soon, with lots of love and support from our dedicated Borneo Team, that Daisy will find her happily ever after and this time in her life will be nothing but a distant memory.

DAISY'S STORY: Daisy is only two years old and has endured more cruelty than many dogs experience in their lifetime. She was left to die in agony on the streets of Borneo after her abuser tied a cable tightly around her neck.

A concerned member of the public notified our good friends at BAWSS about a helpless female dog who was suffering and in a truly awful state. It is believed she had been struggling to survive with the cable tied around her neck for two whole weeks before she was rescued and sent to our care. The pain and suffering this poor, innocent girl must have endured is unimaginable.

Upon rescue, Daisy was immediately sent to IAPWA's facility in Borneo for urgent treatment. Our veterinary team had to cut the cable very gently as it was tied so tightly by her abuser with an intent to ensure Daisy did not survive. Her wound has been cleaned and wrapped with a bandage to prevent any infection and she will now start her long road to recovery.

Daisy is now resting and eating well but, as expected, is very, very timid. We assume she is going to be very nervous and shaken from this awful act of cruelty for some time, but we will work with her to try and bring her confidence back. The abuse has affected her both physically and mentally and we will give this sweet girl all of the time and patience she needs to get better.

Times are tough at the moment with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic drastically affecting IAPWA's fundraising activity, but there are still SO many dogs like Daisy who need our help.

With YOUR support, we can ensure that Daisy and her friends continue to recieve all of the vital treatment, care and support they need so they never have to experience a life of suffering ever again. We aim to find Daisy a forever home through our Adoption Programme once she is well enough, but we need to get her there first.

Can you help us? Any donation, big or small, will be incredibly appreciated. Thank you.

*Please note: Any funds raised over and above our target will be used where they are most needed to directly help the animals in our care.
