Story

"Every Day in May" - Video

We would love you to think of something, big or small, that you could do every day this month to fundraise for money to donate towards the work at Caring For Life.

It could be that during the month of May, instead of the money you would spend on a coffee, you donate it to CFL, and challenge your friends to do the same. It might be that every day you go for your walk, or climb your stairs, you get sponsorship to try and achieve a certain distance or number of steps.

Here are some ideas we came up with, but be as creative as you like and then let us know as we would love to hear from you!

- Not travelling to work? Save up 20p for every mile you've not travelled into work, throughout May.

Why not get sponsored for an activity:

- Climb the stairs in your home 20 times a day

- Walk the equivalent of a hill near your home

- Do 30 press ups (every day )

- Do 50 Star jumps (every day )

- Hop on one leg around your living room 10 times (every day )

- Do 20 cartwheels (every day )

Remember to try and get as many friends and colleagues to take on the challenge too.

There are lots of things you could do, all we ask is to make sure to continue to stick to government guidelines.

By raising these funds you will be helping continue the vital work that Caring For Life. Our daytime farm projects have had to stop during this crisis, but the need to still support vulnerable people still goes on.

Many of those we support now feel even more alone, isolated, scared and anxious. Caring For Life has adapted its work to enable some staff to call those who would normally come up, check on their wellbeing, mental health and are trying to ensure there is some human contact with someone who genuinely loves and cares for them. Wherever possible, and with safe measure in place, we are also continuing to deliver food parcels and bible reading notes.

Our social enterprises which consist of a cafe, restaurant, farm shop, gardens and garden nurseries have taken a massive hit with some of the business now unable to operate, yet we still have high costs to maintain. The government has set out ways to help organisations offering up to 80% of salaries for staff who may be at risk of being made redundant, however other costs still in place, and no other obvious forms of support, we have estimated that our charity shall still have a large short fall.

We are doing all we can to raise income, keep people aware of the new support mechanisms that we have in place, and are looking to save money wherever possible, but we need your help to keep us going.

Please help us to raise money to enable us to continue with our care in the new and changing world that we find ourselves in.
