Story

Update on Little Mavis - updated 7th January 2022

Brave little Mavis the French Bulldog is doing well in her foster home recovering from her big operation, and getting lots of love and support.

Since her operation for a slipped disc last month, this plucky little dog has had to endure repeated urine infections; which the vets have said she is at a higher risk for due to her injury and all she has been through.

She is now having to go on long-term medication for allergies as well, so her little body is battling on all fronts. However, she is a courageous little trooper and although its not been plain sailing, she is being very patient for such a young dog.

She still needs your support though as there is still a long way to go until she is ready for her forever home. We are so grateful for all the donations so far and hope you will be able to help Mavis that little bit more. Thank you

On Saturday 11th December we received an urgent call from one of the Inspectors asking if we could help a young French Bulldog called Mavis, who was struggling to walk and needed urgent medical care.

We immediately agreed and made arrangements to get her to Dick White (specialist veterinary) Referrals on Sunday. Once there, the vets examined Mavis and confirmed our worst suspicions - she had a slipped disc. These procedures are not only tricky to perform but also costly, and we couldn't let Mavis down knowing what awful pain she must have been in.

On Monday Dick White Referrals operated on Mavis and have been monitoring her post operative recovery. We are so pleased to be able to confirm that this little lady is doing very well. We have placed her into an experienced foster home where she will receive the rest and TLC she needs to recuperate, as well as the necessary physiotherapy.

If you are able to donate any amount to help us cover the costs of Mavis's veterinary bill which was in excess of £4,000, we would be very grateful. Any money raised in excess of what is needed will be used to cover other veterinary treatment that the animals in our care require.

Please note: we are not taking rehoming enquiries yet for Mavis. She has a long recovery ahead of her.
