Meeting the Growing Needs of Our Community

Ottawa’s west end continues to grow rapidly, with more families, seniors, and newcomers calling this area home. With that growth comes a rising demand for accessible, high-quality healthcare.

At the heart of this expansion stands Queensway Carleton Hospital — the only full-service hospital in west Ottawa and a trusted provider for nearly half the city’s population. Each year, over 500,000 residents count on QCH for timely, expert, and compassionate care.

Built in 1976 for a population of just 100,000, QCH now operates beyond its original capacity. Our Emergency Department, one of the busiest in Ontario, welcomes over 80,000 visits each year, a number expected to exceed 100,000 by 2028–29.

To meet these growing needs, QCH must continue to invest in advanced medical equipment, technology, and innovation — ensuring every patient receives the right care when they need it.
