Story
Rough sleeping has increased by 169% since 2010! As we approach Christmas, many local people are facing the prospect of spending Christmas without somewhere to stay. But it doesn't have to be this way, we can make the difference. We are launching this appeal in the light of the unprecedented level of need in order to invite you to help bring about additional support for rough sleepers. We aspire to use the funds from this appeal to help pay for additional drop-in sessions for rough sleepers. These drop-in sessions will provide bespoke and personalised advice, health and support services to rough sleepers with the intention of getting them off the streets and into sustainable accommodation at the earliest opportunity.
Phil became homeless after losing his job and eventually came very close to losing his life on the streets. Now he is in stable accommodation and very much building himself back up with the support of the Friary. Watch the video below for the full story. We love good news stories like Phil's and this Christmas we are inviting you to work with us to ensure that more people like Phil are able to move out of crisis and into recovery. We cannot do what we do without the support of the community so please donate and show a local homeless person that our community cares. Thank you for your support.
What we do
The Friary's mission is to empower homeless and vulnerable adults to rebuild their lives by offering practical services, advice and emotional support. Every year we cater for over 16,000 visits from local people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our core service is our advice facility which offers in depth advice on housing, welfare benefit and debt related issues. We have a range of complementary health services including a GP facility, the Homeless Health Team and Optometry. We have an IT suite offering homeless people access to the internet and support with tasks such as managing their benefit claims online. We also have a range of practical support services on offer such as food and clothing parcels.
Our passion is to support and accompany people on the road to recovery and we actively value each and every individual that we encounter as a unique human being who deserves our respect. Find out more at our website here
