Story
Christmas is for many "the most wonderful time of the year," I mean, Andy Williams sang that, right?
And he is right for the most part. People wake up surrounded by loved ones. There is warmth, kindness, good food, and gifts. It's a time of connection.
But for some, it is a reminder. A reminder of the isolation. Of the loneliness that plagues them every single day. The sad reality is that there are people across our local community who will wake up alone. No gifts, no warmth. Nothing.
As a charity built on preventing and reducing loneliness. This is something we will not sit by and ignore.
Since we have been a charity. We have made it a tradition to hand-deliver gifts across Kent and Medway. Our first year saw 60, our second 100, and now, into our third year, we take on the massive task of delivering 175 gifts to those in need.
We don't just want to do this. We have to do this. These are people that we care about a great deal, and despite the mammoth task, it is all worth it when you see the smiles it brings to our people's faces.
We will be on the road from the end of November right up to the buzzer to make this happen. But we will make this happen!
This year's hamper will include a vast array of items, including
- Cards with personalized messages from volunteers.
- Keep Talking merch.
- Chocolate and sweets.
- Arts and crafts stuff.
- Poems.
- Handcrafted decorations.
This year, we also introduce our Christmas card-making groups, which will run in Herne Bay and Gillingham. A time where people can come together. Have some fun and make cards ready for Christmas next year.
We are calling on our community to enable us to make this happen. Any donations, big or small, will go directly to making this drive happen.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you can not donate, we totally get it. But please, share this around and lets give our clients some light.
Nothing but love guys
