St Stephens Church is over a thousand years old, serving both pilgrims and local people in the St Albans area. Our Open Church policy means we continue to offer shelter to all who come during daylight hours but keeping the church lit during the extended opening hours means higher running costs for our beautiful church.

Help us fund new lights - Our old-fashioned existing interior lights are not keeping up with the demands of everyday use and are both energy inefficient and expensive. We are therefore launching a fundraising initiative to raise £40,000 for a new lighting system, that uses eco friendly LED lights which are not only better for the environment but will save us money once installed. The new system will also allow us to set scenes within the church for different occasions, making the lighting within the church much more versatile.
