We wanted to update you all after the disappointing news last night that we are in another lockdown.
This is now our second lockdown in Wales. The first delayed our Shotton shop opening, but as we hadnt yet traded we received absolutely zero government help for this period, so we had to pay rent and bills on a closed shop. We are not sure yet if we will receive help this time but we may not. Our English shops are once again closed and while we are eligible for the government retail grants, they have become less and less generous for each lockdown.
We have furloughed all the staff that we can, but animal rescue doesnt stop because of a pandemic. At this time we have-
129 hedgehogs (and more admissions each day)
28 Wild birds
3 guinea pigs
1 ring neck parrot
1 tortoise
1 goat
2 pigs
1 hamster
6 rabbits
2 ducks
2 budgies
3 quails
Thats 179 animals who rely on us to survive right now
Our reserve funds have really been depleted by the two Welsh lockdowns, we are really scared to be going into another one and the bank balance is starting to look worrying. We have applied for every grant available to us already throughout the pandemic, theres nothing left to apply for.
It kills us that all we can do is ask for your help as we know how tough it is for everyone. But we have 15,000 followers on the page. If everyone donated just £1 it would be enough to see us through.
At Jacksons Place, we will still be pushing ahead with the cattery opening. However all other projects are now paused. We are completely gutted by this but we just need to survive right now.
We have launched a new JustGiving to help us through this horrible time, if you can spare a £ or two we would be so grateful
