Story
We urgently need to raise money for the first phase of our New Masjid Project which is to turn an old dilapidated Postal Delivery Centre into a functioning Masjid for our community.
Our Story
Masjid Bilal has been established since 2006, we started off in a two bedroom flat above a local fast food shop, with the support from our diverse community.
Due to high demand of the local and surrounding community to develop the Masjid, we saw an opportunity to purchase and move in to our current location, a small previous Church property on Sarum Road (below). This is now where we are currently based.
Alhamdulillah, Masjid Bilal has since purchased a 946.5 Sq.M former Postal Delivery Centre (below) opposite our current Masjid with the intention of relocating to it after raising the required funds. We spent a combined £1 million through Qard-e Hasanah/Interest-free Loans (which we need to repay) for the building and land adjacent, which is to be used as a Car Park with space for over 50 vehicles. We have recently been granted permission to use the building as a Masjid; purchasing the land adjacent for the Car Park was vital to gain planning permission for the Masjid due to parking concerns.
Our Goal
Through the help of Allah and our generous community we have come this far. The building currently is not in a usable state, which is why we now require funding for Phase 1 of our Project to refurbish the building and bring it in line with safety regulations. In order to relocate we need to do new electrical work, plumbing, heating and insulation, utility facilities, toilet and wudhu facilities, as well as general building, fire alarms and structural work. Further phases of the Project will be general refurbishment works such as plastering, painting, carpeting, CCTV, audio/visual systems, etc.
Please donate generously in any way that you can!
