An important message from Mummys Star Founder and CEO Pete Wallroth.

Dear Supporters,

These are uncertain times for everyone including the charity sector and I need to ask for your help.

As CEO, I must ensure that Mummys Star is able to continue to give vital support to all families who will undoubtedly need it. So, today I am asking you to please give what you can to the Mummys Star Support Fund to ensure that we can continue our essential support work to families dealing with cancer in or around pregnancy.

The COVID-19 outbreak has created much anxiety and uncertainty amongst the many families we support across the UK and Ireland and for those that will soon need to reach out to us.

Many of our families are in the highest-risk group, their immune systems already compromised from chemotherapy, feeling uncertain, vulnerable and struggling to manage the fear and anxiety alongside raising a young family.

As more and more of us self-isolate, our families will feel the physical and social isolation acutely. Much of our support service is virtual and our team is home based, so the interruption to our day-to-day activities is minimal. However, our work is entirely donation funded and as such the widespread effects of the pandemic means that many of our amazing fundraisers and supporters can no longer participate in the events and activities they had planned and trained for. So, sadly their hard work and fundraising will not materialise. This puts a significant amount of our annual income at serious risk.

It is paramount that we continue to provide the help in reducing the isolation, fears and concerns they face. Our support workers and online community are a huge part of that support as it provides our families with direct contact for important information and a safe, secure and understanding space to talk.

Whether its through a virtual event, donating some money saved from travel due to working from home, online live events or other quirky ideas, we appreciate every penny received and this will help families through some of the most challenging times ahead.

We dont like to ask, especially when there so many other considerations at this time, but we are in unprecedented times and Mummys Star is totally funded through your donations, so we need to protect the vital support we provide to vulnerable families who are dealing with cancer in or around pregnancy.
