Fleeing domestic abuse is a traumatic experience and sadly, one which we have seen more of in the wake of the pandemic. In some cases, families flee to seek safety and sanctuary with only the clothes on their back.

Imagine finishing your school day as you walk to meet your Mum at the school gate, not yet knowing that this will be a day you won't forget. You get onto the bus and while she is nearly crying her natural protective instinct shines through and with a smile she explains "We're not going home; we're going on an adventure!". Because a mother's first priority is always the safety of her children.

While Mum remains resilient and strong with a focus to start again, these little ones have to be brave, leave behind their school, friends, worldly possessions and even their favourite toy.

To make the world seem a little gentler and kinder, AberNecessities is creating Fresh Start packs, filled with the essentials a child and parent needs to help them start over. By providing basic items and supporting and empowering families, we can provide them with the means to start afresh.

Each child's pack will be filled with new clothes, shoes, pyjamas, a teddy bear, games, activities and of course their favourite toy.

Mum will be gifted fresh clothes, shoes, a hairdryer, brush, pyjamas, slippers and toiletries.

Finally the family will receive the Home comforts package filled with non-perishable foods, snacks, story books and blankets.
