Story

The 2 current static nets were last refurbished in 2014. Since then, a gradual deterioration in their quality has taken place and now they are at the end of their useful life.

This is unsurprising, due to the high volume of members/ others at NLCC using the nets between March and October. NLCC now has 310 Junior members and 125 Seniors & Student members.

The key benefits of new net facilities will be to: increase usage capacity; produce better quality coaching opportunities; attract/retain better players; increase member satisfaction.

The Challenge

The run/ walk will consist of 24 one-hour slots with the aim of doing a 10km (6 mile) run/walk at the start of each hour by a different member/ex-member or friends of the club. It doesn't matter where the run takes place or how long it takes you, but these will continue at the start of each hour for 24hrs. You can also run/walk with a group of friends or split up the 10km between you. We will be asking some of our friends in Australia and New Zealand to help us out and fill in the dark hours of our night.

If you would prefer to simply donate an amount towards the new nets simply click on the 'Give Now' button and if you can add Gift Aid (eligible UK Tax Payers) that would be great.

When

The run/ walk will happen after the cricket season, on the weekend of the 25th/26th September 2021. Starting at 12 midday BST on the 25th and finishing at 12 midday on the 26th with a celebration event - news on that to follow.

How to take part

On the new nets fundraising page, simply click on the orange 'Start Fundraising' button, then under 'Doing your own thing' click the Start button. This will let you create your own page or a page that a team can use, which you can then send to friends and family to sponsor your / your teams run-raiser. Their donations will show against the fundraising target you set yourself / the team and will also feed back into the overall new nets fundraising target.

Please let Ralph (2nd XI Mens Captain) know on which hour and on which day you are going to do the run'raiser by contacting ralph7454@hotmail.co.uk
