UPDATE 11/10/2023: We are sorry to announce that we have taken the decision to postpone and reschedule SSAFA’s 2023 Petra Trek due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza. While we know this a huge disappointment to our participants, who have worked tirelessly on their training and fundraising, we believe this to be the right thing to do as the safety and welfare of our participants and their families is our number one priority. Given the remote nature of the location of the trek, we would have been out of communication over the course of the week which understandably would have caused concern for loved ones back home.

We intend to return to Petra in 2024 to complete the trek and will continue to closely monitor the situation in Israel and surrounding region in the meantime. Thank you so much for all your support for our fantastic trekkers. Our challenge takes us to the edge of the Arabian Desert to Petra, the jewel in the crown of Jordan's antiquities, and has been declared one of the 'new' Seven Wonders of the World. Petra is without doubt one of the Middle Easts most spectacular sights, battling it out with Machu Picchu and Angkor Wat for the most dramatic lost city.

This fantastic trek is in aid of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. SSAFA, is a trusted source of practical, emotional, and financial support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need. In 2021 our trained teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 66,000 people, from Second World War veterans to those who have served in more recent conflicts, or currently serving (both regulars and reserves), and their families.

SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. And we are here for that person and their family, any time they need us and in any way they need us.
