Story

COVID 19 has changed the way we all live our lives. For families of disabled children coronavirus has isolated them from their usual support networks. Everyday life for our families is full of barriers, and coronavirus has made those barriers higher than ever. Many parents are now caring for their children 24/7 at home, and alone. All whilst trying to juggle the financial, social and emotional impacts of this situation. Can you imagine facing the shopping right now with a vulnerable young person? Or contemplating finding a new job, in an economic downturn, whilst also managing the care of a profoundly disabled child? Or not even having one hour to yourself to sit and be calm?

Emergency Support

Rose Road has proudly remained open throughout. We've continued to provide advice and information, respite, outreach and play activities. Our dedicated staff team are working around the clock to support families from across the region. Thanks to you, our supporters, we have been able to offer overnight respite to families whose usual support networks are currently closed. We have been able to provide day care to key-worker families with nowhere else to turn. We've delivered food parcels, provided emergency placements, and cared for families when no one else could.

Thank you, we couldn't have done this without you. But for our children and their families this is only the beginning. They need us now more than ever, as they continue to navigate the new normal. Were hearing from new families every day, and were determined to do all we can to be there for them. Please donate today to help us break down the barriers coronavirus has put up for disabled children and young adults.

Thank you so much everyone for looking after the boys. Sean & I have had a much needed break, but to see the boys having fun and enjoying themselves at such a stressful time for them, when they are missing their friends and teachers at college (and elsewhere) is marvellous. They have both arrived home very happy."
