Malawi, a very little known country in South East Africa, suffers from one of the highest rates of deforestation in the world as 90% of the population rely on firewood and charcoal for cooking and heating.

TREEZ (www.zombatreez.com) aims to help combat these detrimental effects through replanting trees, protecting areas so as to allow natural regeneration and education in order to encourage sustainabilty and build resilience.

The Run4Reforestation, now in its fourth year, aims to raise money to help TREEZ replant and protect the Plateau and to raise awareness about the problems of deforestation and environmental degradation through sports teams and community volunteer group sponsorship

This year, sadly, again, we can't have a big fundraising event but if you are interested in helping, you can chose to either donate directly or to organize your own fundraising for TREEZ by following the fundraise link.

Run 5km, 10km or 21km on 4th September and help us fight deforestation here in Malawi.

We will be marking the routes up here on Zomba Plateau, and the Zomba Tour Guides will be on hand for anyone who needs a guide along the way :)

These are difficult times for all but we hope that with all your help, we can continue to help protect the vulnerable communities whose livelihoods depend on the Plateau.

Last year, it was a huge success with participants from all over the world. It was truly heart-warming to witness so many people coming together for TREEZ. We hope this year, we can do even better!
