Story
The Sheldon Unit at West Heath Hospital provides high quality, compassionate care for palliative patients. Please support us by helping to raise £30,000 to re-model the garden at the unit to create a calm and relaxing haven for patients, their carers and staff; a place to create memories and enhance the care of loved ones.
There is strong evidence to suggest that garden spaces and natural light can help to reduce stress, and this renovated garden will provide patients and their families and friends with a peaceful space to come to terms with diagnoses, spend quality time together away from the hospital setting, and enjoy nature together.
Roy Vernum (pictured with the shovel) whose mother Diane passed away at the unit, has pledged funds to this appeal "to help future patients and families make their final times as comfortable as possible".
Please donate to help bring the garden to life by using the button below, or to find out more about fundraising activities, please email bchc.charity@bhamcommunity.nhs.uk or telephone 0121 466 7314.
Any money raised over the cost of the garden project will support other projects at the Sheldon Unit, to help make a difference to patients, carers and staff who support them.
