STEPPING DOWN FROM DODDNAZE

A footpath from Doddnaze to Hebden Bridge Railway station is well used by local residents including school students to get to school. But it is very dangerous. CROWS volunteers who fix footpaths want to put in 50 steps to make it a safe route.

About the charity

CROWS

We are a group of volunteers who have many years experience of dealing with overgrown vegetation and trees, wobbly stiles, treacherous slopes and boggy terrain. We are based in Mytholmroyd and work in the Upper Calder and Ryburn Valleys.

Story

The path From Doddnaze runs steeply into the valley bottom.

It has some steps that are completely rotten, as you can see from the photo above.

There is also a steep muddy slope known locally as the slide of death where the only way to get up or down is to hold on to a fence with barbed wire on the top!

After discussion with some residents, CROWS volunteers who fix footpaths locally want to put in 50 steps to make it a safe route.

We have the promise of some funding from Calderdale Highways and a local landowner, but need to raise £500 to complete the whole job. Ideally we would like to get this done before the New Year as the path is lethal in the winter.

If you don't want to use JustGiving, there are several other ways to contribute to this project. Details on the CROWS website
