Story

South East and Central Essex Mind are delighted to announce the launch of our latest campaign 'Three out of Four' 2020 for Mens Mental Health week.

Take Action on Mens Mental Health

Three out of four suicides are by men.

Suicide is the biggest cause of death for men under 35, with rates highest in men aged 20-24.

For Mens Health Week, we ask you to do three out of these four things, to help take action on Mens Mental Health.

Donate - Gift a donation to South East and Central Essex Mind.

We are a local mental health charity offering vital services to the community. We offer counselling and trauma services, supported housing, peer support and mental health signposting to those in need. We are a self-funded charity, and we do not receive support from National Mind or the government. Help us continue to make a difference for more local men seeking mental health guidance and support.

Talk - We all either identify as a man or know one, so use this week to have a conversation about health, both mental and physical. The last few months have had, and will continue to have, an impact on our wellbeing and mental state in lots of different ways. Create the opportunity, time and comfortable environment to allow someone to talk openly about their feelings.

Start a Fitness Fundraiser - Take on our 2020 challenge this week to raise awareness and funds to help improve mental health and reduce male suicide rates.

For the year 2020, we put it to you to set a fitness challenge involving the number 20 and nominate others to take it on.

It can involve 20 minutes, 20 times, 20 metres (or 20 miles!). Kickstart a challenge by donating £2, sharing yourself attempting your challenge and then nominate others to attempt your task themselves. The fitness challenge can be intensive or fun and you can set up as many different ones as you want. Friends, family and followers can forfeit a nominated challenge by donating £20 to SECE Mind. Use the hashtag #threeoutoffour and tag SECE Mind on social media to share your challenges, achievements (and fails!) during the week.

Man up - Man up for mental health. Take action on the stigma still surrounding mens mental health and wellbeing. Use the power of social media to discuss the topic, share your own experiences and spread awareness. The concept that mental health can be conquered by

South East and Central Essex Mind are here to support you in getting active this Mens Mental Health Week with our new fundraising campaign.

Whether you'd like to get involved with our fundraiser or with your very own fundraising challenge or are simply interested in the tips and advice. We hope you join us in celebrating all things #threeoutoffour for Mens Mental Health Week 2020.
