Story

At IcFEM we have an exciting new pilot project, we are calling it Trees for Life. We are looking to provide the saplings, as well as the needed training and education, to allow smallholders in Kenya to grow a combination of fruit trees, fuel wood trees and slow growing indigenous trees, on their land. This will provide food and income, improve and reclaim degraded land, and sequester some carbon.

We want to trial this potential win-win. There are benefits for those in Kenya as well as giving us the opportunity to build a scheme, which in future, can demonstrate it can successfully off-set carbon. The project is potentially scalable, but first we need a pilot to test the concept.

Andrew Cornish, our chair of trustees, is taking part in the Camino to COP which is being organised by Christian Climate Action (CCA).

CCA (the faith wing of Extinction Rebellion ) are running a Peoples Walk for the Planet a Camino to COP. A bunch of people are walking, as a type of pilgrimage, from London (at the beginning of September) to Glasgow (at the end of October) in time for the COP26 conference in November. Check-out the web-site ( w: www.caminotocop.com ), and see if the route is coming near you! .

Andrew is joining the walk in Leek on the 27th of Sept and walking 275 miles, through October, to Glasgow.

Of course you could also join him for a day or twos walking as well!

Thank you so much!
