Story

** The Challenge **

Since the first Run for Love which inspired our mission, the TRIBE community has pushed their limits to fight modern slavery and support survivors to regain their freedom. This January, 100+ TRIBE Ambassadors are coming together to rally their own communities and join the TRIBE Fresh Start Challenge.

The challenge is open to everyone and we would love you to get involved! Do you have a route, a run, hike or a ride you've always wanted to share or a challenge you've been wanting to take on, but never found the time. Challenge yourself this January, rally your tribe to push your limits together and celebrate a fresh start for 2022.

If you would like to join an event, check out the existing TRIBE Fresh Start Challenge pages under the 'Fundraiser' column to the right or email: julia@wearetribe.co for further details!

** Why? **

Modern slavery is the commodification of people for the purpose of exploitation and financial gain. There are currently more victims globally than ever before. In the UK alone, an estimated 136,000 are living in modern slavery and globally the number is 40.3 million."

Our goal is to increase awareness of modern slavery with +100 micro events across the UK and raise £10,000 to empower the survivors of modern slavery with safe accommodation and a fresh start at one of the TRIBE-funded survivor homes.

All events will raise funds for TRIBE Freedom Foundation, championing holistic long-term support for survivors of modern slavery across our frontline project partners in the UK.

In 2022, we're working with our frontline project partners at Ella's to support the opening of their third safe-house, providing a home for survivors to overcome their previous exploitation and rebuild their lives in freedom.

It is as if I have been reborn after many years of not knowing what it was to have the will to live or smile."

Lucia, a survivor supported by Ella's, our London-based project partner providing accommocation and long-term survivor support.

COVID-19: During the pandemic, with the risk of modern slavery and re-exploitation exacerbated, the need for holistic, trauma-informed survivor support, like Ella's, is greater than ever. Lockdowns and other COVID-related restrictions have brought back deeply traumatic experiences and our project partners have adapted to support the mental and social health of the survivor we are supporting during the pandemic.
