Story
As with many small charities, Coronavirus has had a huge impact on Unique's fundraising this year. Without the wonderful fundraising events, marathons, cake sales, skydives and much more that our friends and supporters do for us, our income is significantly down.
At the same time, the need for our help and information is higher than ever. The need to support families hit with new chromosome/gene disorders diagnoses remains critical. Many Unique families with adults or children with severe disabilities, medical, anxiety or financial issues are suffering because of the virus, the increased isolation of lockdowns, the lack respite and carers. They desperately need support too. We need to continue to help and connect these families, back up doctors and publish more of our chromosome specific guides.
We very much hope 2021 will be a better year but we need your help to get through the current crisis so we can go on supporting and helping all those who need us. Many families come to Unique as a first point of contact, having received a distressing and confusing diagnosis for their child (or adult family member). We help them understand and come to terms with it, cut through the complex terminology and begin to face the future with some renewed hope.
Please help us to be there for these families. We are often their only source of support and information, with the only answers to their many questions. Whatever you can donate, however small or large, will make a real difference to real people.
Thank you from all of us at Unique x
