Santa's Tours with Rotary December 2020

Santa has finished his local tours, with Wolverton and Stony Stratford Rotary Club, for another year. With his Christmas Float he toured around Stony Stratford, Wolverton and New Bradwell. Each year Rotary and Santa usually call on each household as they pass, raising money for local good causes including Willen Hospice. This time, however, because of the strict Covid-19/Tier4 restrictions we did not knock on people's doors nor collect cash during our tours, but instead we did drive pasts to give everyone a chance to still see Santa and give him a wave from the comfort and safety of their own homes. We were determined to spread some festive cheer within our community in view of what we have all been through this year. We did, however, receive a few donations and wish to express our grateful thanks to those who donated. We also wish to thank everyone who turned out to see Santa and for complying with social distancing regulations.

Instead of collecting cash this year we had intended to give people the opportunity instead to donate online; unfortunately, we were not able to get our JustGiving donation page up and running in time for the Santa's Float collections. However, our page has now just been published (31st December) so if anyone would still like to make a donation we would be very pleased to receive your contribution online. Deserving good causes and charities, like Willen Hospice, have suffered a huge drop in their fundraising income this year and very much need our support.

Hopefully, things will return to normal in time for next Christmas because we would like to be able to reinstate our normal full programme of Santa tours and collections at supermarkets.
