Story

Help us raise £40,000 at our first ever Zip Wire!

This will help ensure The Myton Hospices can continue to provide its services free of charge to people with a terminal or life limiting illness, and their families, when they need us most.

This year we have to raise £9.2million of the £12 million we need, we can't do it without support from people like you.

200 brave people will soar 135 metres across the Ricoh Arena in Coventry in our first ever Zip Wire event!

Your support will enable Myton to be there for more people like Camille Gill and her mum Indi who spent her final days on our Inpatient Unit:

Imagine being in your early 40s and being told you have cancer for the second time, after beating it once already in your 30s.

Imagine being told you have a few years at most left to live and having to tell your family.

Imagine getting so ill you get moved to a hospice, knowing youll never get to go home again.

Now imagine that hospice looks after you so well it feels almost like a second home; thanks to the incredible, warm, loving staff, and the support they give to you and your family. They help guide you through the worst time of your lives.

Indi was inspired by her familys love of all things wizard-like and decided to throw a Harry Potter-themed party while receiving end of life care at Coventry Myton Hospice.

She was determined to give husband Pali, and children Rajan, Camille and Riarn something extra special to remember her by. A magician even performed a series of tricks for the family!

Indi wanted to give her children a special gift too, and at the end of his act the magician handed a small package to each of the children which contained a specially crafted crystal wand for each of them to treasure.

I cant begin to imagine how much worse things would have been without Myton. My mum, my family and I did not expect our experience of Myton to be one that we could take happy memories away from, but we were able to do this thanks to the amazing environment they create every day.

To reach our target of £40,000 we rely entirely on donations and sponsorship. Have a look at the difference your fundraising will make:

£50 covers the cost of two hours specialist nursing so our dedicated team can spend time managing symptoms and controlling pain

£175 is the upkeep cost of our relatives accommodation for a week so families can be close to their loved ones in their final days and hours

£460 will fund an inpatient bed for one day so people like Indi and Camille can spend quality time making memories with loved ones

£2,000 would buy a patient specific recliner chair to enable patients to spend time out of bed and help them to live well for longer with a terminal illness
