Story
The African Lion Rehabilitation and Release into the Wild Program aims to create a source of disease free lions for reintroduction into the wild. There are currently two semi-wild-living prides of captive origin released through the program; both include 2nd generation cubs with natural behaviours comparable to any wild-born lion. It is these cubs - and others like them - that will eventually reintroduced into Africa’s national parks.
This program is costly to run and requires help if it is to succeed. The expense of leasing large pieces of land for release sites and erecting secure boundary fences is high. We rely on large funding institutions to fund these important areas of the program. However, ALERT urgently needs YOUR support too.
The funds you help us raise will be used to:
•Conduct research on release prides
•Maintain release sites
•Provide release prides with prey species
•Carry out feasibility studies of suitable parks prior to release
Details of this program can be found here.
