Story

This new project serves to commemorate the life of Helena Green, daughter of Bridget and Leslie, who tragically died on 15 August 2017, aged 31.

Helena volunteered at Amani in 2005 and inspired the establishment of Friends of Amani, Tanzania (FOAT), a charity based in the UK that has worked with Amani ever since.

During the visit of Bridget and Leslie to Amani in late August 2017, Fr Beatus led a mass in Helena’s memory.

Since then, friends and supporters have raised over £4,500 for the Helena Green Memorial Project.  This will bring together the young disabled (walimavu) and their families from the Morogoro area to raise awareness of care for those with mental disabilities and to develop entrepreneurial skills so that these families may be better able to support themselves.

It is expected that the Helena Green Memorial Project will commence in 2018.

Friends of Helena Green and supporters of Amani invite you to continue to remember Helena at family gatherings, friends' meet ups, on Helena's birthday (2 June) and any other occasions you may think of.

Please donate to continue Amani's work with the disabled in Helena's memory.
