Story
Teaching children to value pollinators and apply methods to keep them buzzing year-round is becoming increasingly important. Bees need allies. This is a vital part of the larger job of changing attitudes and practices that value natural processes like pollination – From the Classroom to the Fields.
We have launched a Schools Membership scheme that will enable children to engage with the ancient craft of beekeeping. Fitting in to a larger network of schools that can support each other and exchange ideas in the hope of improving bee habitats across the UK. This is Phase II of a wider development to encourage more young people to take up the skill and gain an understanding of the importance of bees in the environment and to protect the diversity of food that we all enjoy.
Without bees our shopping baskets would look very different!
Our target of £2000 would help 80 Junior schools or 40 Senior schools and this would have wide reaching benefits - enabling students to undertake our Junior Certificate free of charge.
Our membership scheme also offers copies of all materials we offer to schools. Some schools may find £25 or £50 difficult to source and your donation will help to offer the amazing skill to everyone.
Research increasingly shows that schools using sustainability principles help their pupils to develop positive attitudes to their futures, meaning they are more likely to be better behaved, more engaged in class and to attain better results - and the Bees need the children too!
Thank you for any donation you are able to give.
