Story

The narratives told by parents who have experienced the devastation of the loss  or serious injury of their baby have invaluable insights into how such events can be prevented as do the thousands of women who are left with life changing injuries as a result of childbirth.  Sadly these voices have not always been heard but  the MOMs project aims to change this. With the support of leading  health care professionals and coroners, we will ensure the voice of parents is heard. Events at Morecambe Bay, Ayrshire and Arran and Shrewsbury are evidence of the power of families to change services for the better. We are fundraising to support our campaigning work, to run conferences, and to ensure our representation on national and regional maternity policy bodies.  Our aim is to reduce all avoidable harm and improve the safety of UK maternity care. We want to make the UK one of the safest places to give birth in the world. Please help us to continue this work.

About the charity

The Birth Trauma Association supports families affected by traumatic childbirth. We also campaign to raise awareness of birth trauma and improve training of health professionals, as well as lobbying policymakers to improve care during and after childbirth.
