Story
Last year Brighton Early Music Festival enjoyed one of its most successful years, with excellent ticket sales and several sold out events. So you may ask why are we making an appeal now?
Even with every concert sold out ticket sales will cover only about 25-30% of our costs, so almost every event involving professional musicians will make a 'loss' in real terms, and that has always been the case.
We have no guaranteed funding but must apply every year to a large number of grant-awarding bodies.
As well as our brilliant concerts the education and outreach work we undertake is vital to our funding success. So raising enough money for the festival to happen at all is our biggest challenge - and often our biggest headache! The support we get from our Festival Friends and volunteers is the most valuable we receive. Our volunteers not only provide a range of services we would otherwise have to pay for, but they help maintain the warm and friendly atmosphere for which BREMF is famous. If you enjoy the festival you can support us in the following ways:
By joining or upgrading as a Friend of the Festival at www.bremf.org.uk/friend
Making a donation via this appeal page
Getting in touch via www.bremf.org.uk to discuss other ways to support such as via a company or trust
We are grateful for any amount but the list below gives an example of where we can use your support:
£20 pays for travel for a student performer
£50 covers microphone hire for an event involving speech
£125 pays for printing 15,000 flyers to publicise the festival
£250 covers harpsichord hire and tuning for one event
£500 pays for venue hire for one of our larger events
