Story
Dear Santa
*Sean was first sexually abused when he was 5– it happened at Christmas.
“Santa must have let this happen because I am bad.”
Sean was only 9 when he tried to harm himself at Christmas. He could no longer cope with the terror he felt as Christmas got closer. His mother took him to the hospital where he broke down &told her why he had hurt himself.
“It’s hard to talk about it, but my therapist in CARI helps me show how I feel. I still get very angry &sad sometimes but after I feel better."
This year Sean is looking forward to Christmas for the first time in years.
“This Christmas will be extra special for us because things are getting better and I know that bad things won’t happen to me. My therapist in CARI helped me write a letter to Santa. Most boys in school don’t write to Santa anymore – but I am because I am beginning to believe in good things again.
There are currently over 100 children on our waiting list.
