Story
Inside Housing has continually supported campaigns to tackle homelessness in the UK, and we're proud to be associated with the Choir with No Name’s Christmas Singalong at Brighton Dome. Many of you will have seen them at the UK Housing Awards 2017 where we gave a donation to support their work.
The Choir with No Name is a charity that runs choirs for homeless and marginalised people in London, Birmingham and Liverpool (with a Brighton choir launching in 2018).Their members face many challenges associated with homelessness; mental health problems, relationship breakdown, drug and alcohol addiction. Through regular rehearsals and performances, members build up confidence, skills and long lasting friendships, overcoming the circumstances that led to their homelessness. Their choirs restore a sense of self-worth and become a family where a conventional one may not exist.
Christmas can be a tough time for members, so having something positive to look forward to during the festive season is vital to their wellbeing. This year they're excited to be bringing their choirs together at the Brighton Dome on December 15 for their Big Christmas Singalong, but we need your help to make it happen!
Your donation will support the cost of the gig, including getting the choirs to Brighton and ensuring they have somewhere safe to stay. Overcoming stage fright to perform at high profile gigs is one of the things members say builds confidence the most, and they can rarely afford to get all choirs together at the same time. Giving them the opportunity to do so means the world.
We urge organisations to make a donation to this worthy cause. We'll publish a thank you in our Christmas issue of Inside Housing including your organisation’s details. We also ask you to engage your local choir for any functions that would benefit such a great cause. Funds raised exceeding the target will go towards supporting their rehearsals and other regular work.
