Story

I really got into cycling again after giving up runningdue to twinges in my right knee…probably my age as well!

‘In 2009, I took my passion for the environment; added toit the required training together with volunteering…Now my job is all about surveyingthe wonderful diversity of flowers, insects, birds and mammals that live anddepend on Sites of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI).

Lands End to John O’Groats is something I have been thinking aboutdoing for a while now, so if I can do something I love (Cycling) toraise money for another passion of mine, then it would be silly not to.

The Green Hay project is an excellent way ofpreserving the local identity of wildflower grasslands.  We plan to harvest wildflowers and grassesjust as they are shedding seed and still ‘green’ from the donor site at Tadnolltocreate a meadow at Old Prison Fields. The result is a flower-richmeadow. My hope is that in years to come, I will besurveying this new SNCI!’
