Story
We believe that children deserve the best. This Christmas, we’re doing up our seven children therapy rooms across London. We’re asking you to help us raise £2000 to buy new and inclusive toys and creative materials for these rooms.
We need toys and creative materials that meet the needs of different age groups, genders, religion, culture and abilities so children have a diversity of options for expressing themselves.
1 in 5 children in the UK experience domestic abuse. Domestic abuse has a devastating impact on children’s lives and childhood.
At DVIP, we provide specialist creative arts and play therapy to over 170 children each year to help them to recover from the trauma of living with domestic abuse. Toys and creative materials are valuable tools in children’s therapeutic journeys, providing them with the language to express difficult emotions and experiences.
Support us and give children a whole new set of toys and creative materials to help them tell their story and #beachildagain.
"My four year old has been carrying adult worries she should never have been exposed to. Her time at DVIP’s children’s therapy service has transformed her from a stressed and sad person into a happy, secure child. It has been the best thing I have done for her. You helped her shed the weight and it feels like she is finally allowed to be a happy, playful child. Thank you!”
£10 will buy animal figures to help children express their emotions.
£20 will buy inclusive puppets for children’s storytelling and roleplays.
£30 will buy Lego sets as all children love to build and create.
£40 will buy musical instruments for non-verbal expression.
£50 will buy a dolls house to help children show their experiences of home.
“For children, toys are their words, and play is their conversation.”
