Story
FareShare Sussex provides food which is turned into nutritious meals for vulnerable people by charities & community groups across the county.
But this isn’t all we do.
With the support of the community we are able to:
- Prevent food from unnecessarily going to waste, reducing the volume of harmful greenhouse gases in the atmosphere caused by food rotting in landfill.
- Enable charities to make huge savings on their food bill so they can spend more on their vital core support services.
- Support vulnerable adults through our volunteer programme, providing a sociable, safe and structured environment to gain confidence, work experience and accredited training.
Our members tell us that FareShare's food also helps to:
- bring people together over shared meals, reducing social isolation.
- educate through cook and eat sessions, developing important life skills.
- engage clients with other services, helping break the cycle of poverty
- improve overall well-being, making people happy as well as satisfied through being able to access foods that could not be provided without our service.
This is how we do ‘more than meals.’
And this is why your support to FareShare Sussex this Christmas will go extremely far in tackling some of the most pressing social and environmental concerns including homelessness, food poverty, social isolation and climate change.
Just £10 pays for the delivery of 50 meals and prevents 21kg of food from being wasted. But it also enables us to support volunteers and help 100 other charities to improve their services.
We have ambitious plans to reach more people and prevent more food from going to waste. Please help us to do more in 2018 by supporting and sharing this appeal.
