Story
Van after van arrived at the rescue centre, in the end 14 dogs were dropped off, and as each one came off the van it was clear they had led a harsh life.
They were in a poor physical condition and they were also very worried. Thanks to having our wonderful rescue centre, we were able to provide them all with a safe cosy kennel, ensuring they received the vet treatment they so desperately needed.
Nana and Wendy, two beautiful Newfoundlands who had clearly been used for breeding. Despite very recently having had puppies their coats were in an appalling condition – filthy and matted to the point we had no choice but to shave them right back.
The Labradors appeared to have lived outside and were in desperate need of a bath. Poor Alexa was still in milk from feeding puppies so we had to manually manipulate her teats to express the milk to prevent infection and mastitis. Day by day we reduced this process to let her confused body know that her puppies were gone.
Sox and Seren the Maltese pups came in with horribly tangled coats and needed to be clipped right back. Once we could see past the matted fur we noticed that Seren had a fused back leg. Sadly we think she will need an operation to have the leg amputated as it is very uncomfortable for her.
Brenda and Harper are Pug crosses who arrived separately and were very nervous, it quickly became apparent that they knew each other and were delighted that they could share a kennel.
And Rio and Lincoln are young Labrador puppies who are full of life, but came in with inflated wormy tummies.
As you can imagine, taking in 14 dogs so unexpectedly has been a massive drain on our limited resources. The costs of caring for these dogs will be thousands and we’re appealing for your help.
Please make a donation today to help us get these dogs ready for new loving forever homes. The dogs are really blossoming at the Rescue Centre or out in their foster homes, please if you are able, make a donation today.
