Story
Jon Milne is embarking on the adventure of a lifetime to help beat Mitochondrial Disease. A retired businessman from Surrey, he's sailing the Clipper Round The World yacht race in aid of the Lily Foundation. The money he raises will help us to support children and families impacted by Mito, and fund vital research so that one day we can find a cure.
Keeping him company on the gruelling voyage will be our intrepid Lily bear, Sailor Swift. Follow Sailor Swift on Twitter: @SailorSwiftBear
“Sailor Swift represents the amazing work the Lily Foundation does and all the brave children who are fighting Mitochondrial Disease today,” said Jon. “My voyage will be tough but it's nothing compared to what those children and their families are enduring. So wherever I go, Swifty goes too. He’s already visited 10 Downing Street for the official announcement of the GREAT Britain team.”
Jon is crewing aboard the UK government sponsored boat GREAT Britain, one of 12 yachts taking part in the record breaking 40,000 voyage. He’ll be crossing six oceans, and will be at sea for around eight months.
Here’s wishing Jon and Swift fair winds, good racing and a safe return. Thank you for helping us beat Mito.
