We have recently finished our stove building programme launched in October 2016 completing 982 stoves in seven villages - Sosola, Robertson, Sadi, Nkanda, Namonde, Peter Ntenda and Mategula.

We are now launching the next phase to provide more Malawian villages with the benefit of this programme. A £15 investment provides the following benefits:

1. A stove built by our experienced stove building team.

2. Training in the village to learn how to use the stove.

3. Reduced wood consumption of 65% saving trees.

4. Women gain time because they spend two days less each month collecting firewood and the stove cooks more efficiently and quicker. It is also a cleaner form of cooking reducing the time needed to clean pots.

5. It is a safer form of cooking than traditional methods resulting in a huge reduction in burns and injuries.

6. The monetary saving for a family in a year on average is around £40 because of reduced firewood costs.

Since first starting this programme in 2014 we have built over 1400 stoves. Alongside this programme we are also working in the villages to plant trees and create tree nurseries.

This project has multiple benefits. For a UK donor it is a great way to compensate for your carbon footprint. For the family in Malawi you are saving them time, money, positive health benefits because the new stove is smokeless, helping tackle deforestation in Malawi and providing work for our stove building team.
