Story
Help us to save and transform the lives of thousands of patients needing complex brain surgery.
Sheffield’s Royal Hallamshire is the only NHS hospital in the UK to have a ROSA Robot – the most advanced surgical assistant robot of its kind.
But, to keep it in Sheffield and available on the NHS we need your help to raise £250,000 in just six months.
Neurocare is funding the first ROSA robot for use in Sheffield's Royal Hallamshire NHS hospital.
ROSA’s computer ‘brain’ and robotic ‘arm’ work together under the neurosurgeon’s control, making this surgery faster and more accurate meaning shorter and less invasive surgery for the patient. The ROSA can be used to operate on people with a range of complex neurological conditions such as epilepsy, Parkinson’s Disease and deep-seated brain tumours, to name a few.
The ROSA robot’s advanced computer system provides neurosurgeons with precise 3D maps of a patient’s brain. They can look at these images from any angle, and like a super detailed GPS map its pinpoints with incredible accuracy the exact area they need to reach in the brain to then plan the best routes to the surgical site.
With the aid of ROSA™ robot we hope for Sheffield to remain as a centre of excellence in the UK, helping transform the lives of thousands of patients within Sheffield and England.
