Story
Alice Gross’s life was cruelly taken from her in 2014, aged 14. She went missing on 28 August and was found on 30 September. She was a keen musician, singer and songwriter. She could turn her hand to any instrument and hoped, eventually, to have a career in music.
Alice’s mother Ros Hodgkiss says: “There are no words to really capture our sense of grief and shock at the loss of Alice. We have set up Alice’s Youth Music Memorial Fund in memory of the joy she found in music-making and to give this opportunity to other young people. We hope will grow and provide a sustainable legacy of music-making for disadvantaged children.”
Youth Music supports over 350 music projects around the country providing music-making opportunities for young people facing difficult challenges in their lives including disability or mental health conditions. The projects help them to develop the skills they need to take control of their lives and improve their career or educational prospects.
